Inspired by the natural surroundings of West Sussex, I subconsciously paint, what I feel, are baron, isolated landscapes. This particular piece is called Niotheis, 'We feel', A baron landscape of isolation, yet a sense of ghostly calm and peace. Inspired by my responses to Rothko and even Turner, I would like to think that this piece, stirs an emotion in the viewer and invites them to stare, gaze and feel. The hopeful undertones of ochre and umber play as much a part of this painting as the deep black.
